Towards Tapered Illusions is inspired by the work of the abstract expressionist painter Norman Lewis and particularly his work Composition in Blue and Black.  -Brian Enos

Towards Tapered Illusions was commissioned as part of New Music / New Dance, a collaborative residency between the Chicago Center for Contemporary Composition at the University of Chicago and DanceWorks Chicago, made possible thanks to the generous support of Gay Stanek.

Towards Tapered Illusions premiered at the Logan Center Performance Penthouse in Chicago, IL, in a one-night-only performance on March 24, 2023.
