The act of telling a ghost story is a queer act, and this piece rethinks the genre through a queer lens – how queerness can be a spectrality, a haunting on the body.  -Paul Novak

ghost story was commissioned in 2023 as part of New Music / New Dance, a collaborative residency between the Chicago Center for Contemporary Composition at the University of Chicago and DanceWorks Chicago, made possible thanks to the generous support of Gay Stanek.

ghost story premiered at the Logan Center Performance Penthouse in Chicago, IL, in a one-night-only performance on March 24, 2023.
