DanceWorks Chicago is dedicated to creating a safe space for artists and audiences, now more so than ever.
These are trying times…time to try something new! Team DWC has been taking a, wait for it, 360 degree look at our Dance360 programming. Thank you to dancers, faculty, and accompanists for responding to our survey requests. We hear you and appreciate your patience.
Prioritizing the well-being of artists and being sensitive to shifting resources of space, time, and dollars, Dance360 programming will migrate from an in-person program to a Zoom platform. Doing so opens the Dance360 circle to experiences and innovation that Team DWC is excited to explore with you!
Instead of simply trying to deliver in-person content on a digital platform, our approach to Digital Dance360 has been crafted to maximize our time together while being sensitive to housemates/roommates, acknowledging the challenges of limited space, and understanding that Zoom fatigue is a thing.
Described by dancers as “inspiring”, “impactful”, “refreshing”, and “transformative”, DanceWorks Chicago’s Dance360 programming incorporates a holistic approach to dance training and artistic development. “Dancers need a diverse set of tools to be successful in the studio, on stage, and in life. Dance360 will help young artists identify, develop, and utilize these tools on their journey through dance.” — DWC Artistic Director Julie Nakagawa.
From Dance360 Summer Dancers
“Dance360 summer programming helped me find renewed confidence and cultivate a playground for curiosity.”
“I wasn’t familiar with the DanceWorks Culture … It is something I feel that it is hard to truly read unless immersed within the dancers, teachers, and administrators. It definitely became more important and is the reason I want to return to this program next summer. It was a safe space to grow as a young artist.”
“I had high expectations for the classes and seminars. Subject matter that was discussed everyday blew me away!”
“I would love to thank the DanceWorks Chicago company members (previous and current) involved with the summer programming. Their professionalism, positive energy, and genuine interest and investment in the well-being and growth of all the people in the room was felt and appreciated. It was uplifting and inspiring to have such a beautiful examples of what good dance citizens embody: work ethic, professionalism, openness, and overall dedication to and passion for the art form.”
