BJÖRN HELGET, from Dresden, Germany, studied in his hometown at the Palucca School as well as at the State Ballet School of Berlin. He has danced with Landestheater Detmold, State Theatre of Mecklenburg in Schwerin, and with Gauthier Dance/Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart where he performed in works by Alejandro Cerrudo, Marguerite Donlon, Mats Ek, Eric Gauthier, Jirí Kylián, Paul Lightfoot & Sol Leon, Hans van Manen, John Neumeier, Robert North, and Christian Spuck. Björn has had the opportunity to perform across Europe in Austria, England, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, and Switzerland. In addition to dancing, he has started to explore choreography. A member of DanceWorks Chicago from September 2011 to July 2012, Björn was DanceWorks Chicago’s first international dancer, to expand his training and professional experience with the help of the International Arts & Artists Cultural Exchange Program. He returned to Germany in the summer 2012 to pursue his freelance career.
