DanceWorks Chicago is excited to present Purigado, created for DWC by Rubén Graciani / RG Dance Projects as an invited guest of the Palm Desert Choreography Festival.

Purigado is an Esperanto word for cleansing, purification.

Purigado explores the ideas of need vs. want, the push and pull of our individual hopes and desires, go away versus please stay, and the idea that sometimes something breaking down before rebuilding is a powerful cleansing of the spirit and an opportunity for growth.

Created for and premiered by DanceWorks Chicago at Theater Rüsselsheim in Rüsselsheim, Germany on February 9, 2022.
