New Dances 2020 VIRTUAL Dancer Audition

DanceWorks Chicago Chicago is excited to continue our partnership with Thodos Dance Chicago on New Dances 2020, the 20th anniversary of New Dances under the TDC umbrella!

—> UPDATE: In consideration of the current environment, Team New Dances has been exercising its creative muscle and is excited to announce a move from the in-person audition on Sunday, April 5 to the first ever VIRTUAL audition for Chicagoland-based dancers to join the New Dances 2020 Company.
CALLING ALL DANCERS: Dancers in the Chicago Dance Community are invited to apply to join the New Dances Company. Please complete the Dancer Registration Form by noon on Friday, April 3 to pre-register for the VIRTUAL audition. ONLY dancers who have pre-registered will have their materials shared with the choreographers and receive a link to the audition materials.  New Dances Choreographers Sydney Jones, Drew Lewis, Brian Martinez, Joanna Meccia, Joe Musiel, and Peyton Winker will each introduce themselves via video and share an audition prompt/task. New Dances Choreographers will assess applicants and invitations will be extended to a select group of dancers. Each applicant will hear back regarding the status of their application during the month of April.   Learn more about this season’s creators HERE!
NOTES: This virtual audition is uncharted territory and there may be some bumps.  In an effort to be equitable, please know that the quality of your work is more important than the quality of your video (no multi-angle shots necessary!) and/or the amount of square footage in your audition venue (size does not matter!). This is an adventure, and we believe in our community’s ability to rise to the occasion.  We look forward to your attenDANCE, and thank you in advance for your patience, understanding, and sense of humor!
BEFORE you begin, please note:
