Moving far beyond the constraints of the traditional dance company model, DanceWorks Chicago has up-ended the status quo to create an organization dedicated to cultivating all aspects of Dance:
Through this laboratory of training, collaboration, mentorship, and performance, DanceWorks Chicago will be serving every stakeholder in the dance community. Our mission is to benefit all—from dancers, choreographers, musicians, and technicians to our benefactors, venue operators, and audiences. Early career artists will have an opportunity to grow, to learn in an environment of excellence—and gain a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to thrive in today’s world of Dance. Our commitment is to “Community” not “Company”, the Participatory, rather than the Proprietary. And having chosen this route, we envision building a richer, more dynamic and more robust dance community. |
