Addio Amore was commissioned in 2011 by the Western Michigan University Department of Dance as part of a cooperative residency with DanceWorks Chicago and Nelly van Bommel. Addio Amore is in the repertoires of DanceWorks Chicago and Western Michigan University and was created so the two groups could perform the dance separately and together.

First performed by DanceWorks Chicago at the Teatro Sociale in Trento, Italy, on April 17, 2012.
